Lack of quality sleep

Low calorie intake
Maintaining a low calorie intake for a long time slows down metabolism. When the body doesn’t get enough energy from food it slows metabolism to use energy efficiently.
Sitting for long hours
Being physically active helps boost metabolism, while being inactive slows metabolism. If you have a desk job make sure you stand up after every 20 minutes and take a walk after every 2 hours.
Calcium helps regulate fat metabolism. If you don’t get enough calcium, you’re more likely to store food as fat instead of burning calories, according to research. Drink milk to get enough calcium.
Water plays a huge role in all bodily functions. Some studies show that being dehydrated can slow metabolism by 2 percent. And other studies show that increasing water intake enhances weight loss.
You don’t eat fiber
Fiber-rich foods are great for weight loss – they’re filling, and have a high thermic effect of food. If you mostly eat white carbs your metabolism will definitely suffer. Eat plant foods since most of them are rich in fiber.
You don’t get enough vitamin D
Vitamin D helps preserve metabolism-revving muscle tissue. Unfortunately, statistics show that 50 percent of Americans don’t get enough vitamin D. Make sure you get at least 20 minutes of sunlight each day and eat foods like eggs and fish.
