When we look back on 2016 as a whole, one of the most memorable aspects of the year is sure to be the bizarre influx of reported clown sightings.

What originally began in the American southeast has quickly traveled all over the United States, where dozens of people have claimed to have seen threatening people dressed as clowns beckoning them into the woods. While no actual deaths or injuries have occurred as a result of these sightings, that hasn’t prevented local police forces from taking them extremely seriously.

Now, even innocent children are being punished for the rumored sightings.

Connecticut’s New Haven Public School district has announced that they are effectively prohibiting any of their students from wearing clown costumes during this year’s Halloween season. Due to the fact that they believe it could potentially put their students at risk, the entire school system has decided to ban clown costumes. For those who love Halloween dearly, this is extremely frustrating, especially because there is little to no proof that any of these clowns actually exist.

But that may not matter, according to Supt. Garth Harries, who stated, “We are considering this to be nothing more than a prank and harassment fueled by social media and upcoming Halloween … Working with the police department and our own security team, we have no evidence that there is a credible threat to students or schools in the district.”

And yet, Harries has deemed it necessary to ban all clowns from his schools. The potential of a killer clown is enough to cause the entire clown community to be deemed “threatening,” which is just outrageous. Whatever happened to allowing children to have fun around Halloween? Why can’t adults accept this kind of behavior as mischievous and harmless entertainment for the benefit of children?

It’s funny how many of those who are overreacting to these reported sightings also happen to have major issues with the Second Amendment. The one thing that ensures safety against the clowns that terrify them to no end is yet another thing they happen to be fighting against. When it comes to hypocrisy, it seems as though the Regressive Left never manages to peak.

The War on Christmas was in full force last year, and now the War on Halloween has begun. No holiday is too sacred to the fascists on the left. Sooner or later, they are going to come after everything that we hold dear.
