For Immediate Release June 17th 2016
22 Too Many, an organization supporting our military community, along with BIGFOOT Music & Outdoors are proud to announce that they have joined forces to embark on the “22 Too Many Tour”.  Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and mental health issues have plagued active members of our military and veterans to the point where there is a staggering rate of 22 suicides per day.

Matt Mason

This is something that we feel more people need to be aware of, and we believe that this tour will shed light on this horrible statistic in hopes that awareness can be raised, helpful resources shared, and lives saved.  The Tour will feature performances by J.T. Cooper, a Purple Heart recipient, Brandon Holden, a US Army Veteran, and Matt Mason, Winner of  “CMT’s Next Superstar”.

Matt Mason has always known that music would be a big part of his life. In fact, one of Mason’s earliest memories is the time his family took him to see The Grand Ole Opry at The Ryman Auditorium. Matt recalls telling his Father that night he would perform on that very same stage one day. Little did they know that several years later Matt would indeed take the stage at “The Mother Church”, as the Winner of CMT’s “Next Superstar”.

Born in Indianapolis, IN, Matt Mason never turned down an opportunity to perform. At a young age he found himself jumping on stage any chance he got. Having the opportunity to share the stage with the likes of Charlie Daniels and Vern Gosdin, he knew Music City was his destination. Once he graduated from high school in 2005, Mason packed his belongings and made the move to Nashville to pursue his dreams. While performing on Lower Broadway at famous attractions such as Tootsies and The Stage an opportunity presented itself for Mason to audition for USA Network’s “Nashville Star”. After a 4th place finish on the show’s 2006 season, (coming in close behind Winner Chris Young) Mason now had more drive and passion than ever for his music and fans.

In 2011, Mason got a chance to appear on CMT’s “Next Superstar” and felt it could be the opportunity that he has been searching for. In June of that very same year, Matt Mason was named Winner of CMT’s “Next Superstar”. Part of the prize package for winning the show included the privilege of opening up the 2011 CMT Tour, featuring Luke Bryan, Josh Thompson and Lee Brice.

Since the show’s end, Mason has been hard at work in the studio putting together his debut album with legendary record producer, James Stroud. Winning CMT’s Next Superstar has allowed Mason to tour coast-to-coast bringing his music to his fans in many of the nation’s largest markets. With a new management team and booking agency in place Matt Mason is excited for the future and can’t wait to see what it holds!
